We can help you get back into shape!
At Pram Fitness we make fitness fun, all of our sessions are always different and have been designed to target all of the areas that you, as a mum, would want to work, so you can be assured your session will be effective for your goals. You can bring your baby along and we will incorporate the pram into a great workout for you, while you know your baby is safe, happy and right near you.
The Pram Fitness training program is a great opportunity to spend some all important social time with other mums while feeling comfortable to work out with lots of mums in the same position as you.
What to expect at a Pram Fitness session
Each session is always different and varied but you can expect to do anything from:
- Cardio Workouts: To help you improve your fitness and burn fat
- Strength / Weights Sessions: To help build lean muscle to shape your muscles and help with fat burning
- Interval Sessions: A fantastic way to improve your cardiovascular fitness
- Resistance band work: We use resistance to create tone and shape with your muscles
- Core training: We show mums how to rebuild their bodies from the inside out
The most important thing to remember is that you are always able to see you baby and if you need to settle your bub you will have plenty of options.
We bring a playpen to each class, they can lay on the mat you are working out on or sometimes they would prefer to be in your arms so we can give you an option to workout while holding your baby.
Remember, if you or your baby is having a bad day it doesn’t matter because every mum at Pram Fitness has been in the same boat so there are plenty of helping hands there to offer support if needed
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I join?
It’s easy, just arrive 10mins before the session starts, so that you can meet your trainer and chat to them about any concerns you may have. Remember that we often move around and leave the meeting point so make sure you do come on time and ready to go. Prior to your first session make sure you have filled out your Pre-Exercise Questionnaire and a letter of clearance to exercise from your doctor.
What should I bring with me to class?
1: Your baby in a stroller or pram, most strollers will do the trick as long as they are not ones that will tip over easily.
A jogging pram is ideal but most strollers will do the trick.
2: Comfortable sports shoes
3: A towel or even a yoga mat for floor exercises
4: WATER! Bring plenty of water!
5: Hat and sunscreen for you and your baby
6: Snacks for your baby if they are at that stage
What happens in bad weather?
Answer = We still train. Where possible we will find an indoor or an undercover area. If you are unsure please text or call your trainer to check on the session location. We will only cancel a class in extreme weather conditions where it is unsafe to train.
What happens if my baby cries during the session?
It’s simple really, tend to your baby. We are constantly moving and stopping so there will be plenty of opportunities for you to settle your bub. If needed you can always catch up when you are ready – we will never be too far away. The most important thing is that you and your baby are happy.
How old does my baby need to be?
As with any woman that has just given birth we recommend that you and your baby wait for 6 weeks before starting any type of fitness regime or 8-10 weeks if you have had a caesarean. Always get the ok from your doctor before starting and attach your doctor’s clearance letter to your pre-exercise questionnaire.
How long are the sessions?
The workout goes for 45mins in total. This gives us plenty of time for a warm up, conditioning section, core strength section and a cool down where we can discuss any fitness or nutrition questions that you may have.
I’m not very fit, especially after having my baby. How hard are the sessions?
It’s all good! All of our programs will be designed so that there are beginner and advanced options so we really do cater to all levels of fitness. We want you to have a great workout but we also understand what your body has just gone through. We will always give you options so you can work safely and to the best of your ability. Just remember there are plenty of mums who feel exactly the same as you – as long as you all encourage each other we will have a great time.
What if i’m breastfeeding?
It’s very common, some of our exercises will be adapted for you if you are finding jumping or bouncing exercises too painful. Also, we recommend that you feed your bub just before the session so they are happy for as long as they can be 🙂
What happens if it’s extremely cold?
The great thing about Sydney is that even in the middle of winter the sun is out and the days are beautiful. Our tip is for you to always make sure that your baby is warm enough and has a good amount of layers and blankets, especially in winter. For you, we recommend that you wear layers so that you can take the layers off as the workout progresses and you get warm.
